Biography
Eun-sil Lee has been working from the early stages of her career to the present, using traditional Korean painting techniques as a foundation to address socially suppressed human desires, which are often hidden. Her work explores the eternal conflict between suppressed instincts and societal structures. She captures various types of desires, repression, chaos, and the energy that arises from them on the canvas. She has expressed the side effects of power arising from human greed and the uncomfortable dark aspects that are difficult to reveal. Through exploring primal desires, their origins, and the underlying forces, she unveils the true nature of desires that have been repressed and distorted by social structures.
