Biography

Jesse Chun's poetics in moving image, drawing, sculpture, and installation intimately ruminate on the untranslatable through language. Tearing the dominant/ colonial compositions of linguistic hierarchy and legibility, Chun’s work invokes alternate semiotics and cosmologies of meaning and time. Chun presented a solo survey exhibition for the 12th Seoul Mediacity Biennale; her work has also been presented by Sculpturecenter in New York, the Drawing Center (NY), the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto, Commonwealth and Council (LA), among others. Chun’s work is in the collections of Seoul Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art Library, and Kadist Art Foundation.
