BIOGRAPHY
My practice is a light sarcastic in/direct reaction towards various problems and absurdities I experience because of my identity (Korean, artist, worker, a married man in his 30s, and more). My aim as an artist is to create a space of discussion for specific issues. And awaken a sense of actualization for people who share similarities in their identities with mine as political communities that take part in creating those problems. This lets me self-justify to continue with my art practice and allows me to meditate on whether I can sustainably hold being an artist as my main occupation. If I were to be asked what values my practice introduces and creates for my surrounding, my answer would be: to suggest new perspectives and mindsets when approaching life. My goal as an artist is to slowly change our everyday life by observing something as an issue, realizing the core of this issue, and then creating empathy from other people to generate new reactions towards them.
