Biography
“How is the concept of the painting brought to the surface through images?” is the question Hyerim Jun focuses on in her practice. The artist draws out abbreviated symbols of ‘paradise’ from art history and contemporary images, then rearranges them to variate the traditional rules of painting. Through her paintings and installations, Jun questions the fundamentality of painting, the level of authority attached to the medium, and how its situatedness is regulated.
