Biography
Keem Jiyoung’s (b. 1987) practice focuses on the relationship between an individual and social happenings (disasters), and the systemic problems deeply enrooted in those occurrences. After South Korea’s Sewol ferry disaster in 2014, the artist has been exploring global ruptures that are revealed through contemporary disasters.
Keem has exhibited in various art institutions in South Korea and Hong Kong, including the artist’s solo shows: Glow Breath Warmth, WESS, Seoul, 2020; Wind Beyond the Closed Windows, Sansumunhwa, Seoul. 2018; and Tilted Land Even Wind, O’newWall E’Juheon, Seoul, 2015.
