Biography
Jinseung Jang is an artist who explores the potential for mutual understanding to overcome the prejudices and discrimination embedded within human existence. He fundamentally reflects on the relationships between humans, society, and technology, particularly from a phenomenological perspective, analyzing and reconstructing human perception and cognitive structures.
His work employs diverse media — including digital and analog data visualization, audiovisual archive systems, video, and installation — to construct multilayered meanings. Jang delves into the essence of human experience at the intersection of past, present, and near-future timelines. He focuses on how technological advancements shape human thought processes and identity formation, experimentally revealing how the boundaries of what we perceive as reality shift through interactions with technology.
Sensory experience and the structuring of information play a crucial role in his work, encouraging the audience to engage not merely as passive viewers but as active interpreters. Jang investigates how prejudice and discrimination operate not only within individual consciousness but also within social systems, presenting possibilities for overcoming these mechanisms.
His work blurs the boundaries between technology and art, humanity and non-humanity, carefully navigating the tensions and balances that emerge in between. Ultimately, Jang’s art envisions the cognitive and philosophical landscapes of future societies, inviting viewers to re-examine the world from a renewed perspective.
