Biography
Juree Kim continues to maintain a constant interest in the ever-changing and disappearing physical and social environments around her. She explores how natural elements such as soil, water, light, plants, and air interact materially and how these interactions can be connected to personal experiences to form metaphors within society. In her work, natural elements take on meanings beyond mere materials, transforming into geographical components of sky, air, water, and earth within specific environments of place and experience. Her works are primarily in the form of sculptures or spatial installations, which serve as a stage that embodies the passage of time, addressing ontological instability and enabling the exhibition space to function as a medium that traverses materiality, circulation, permanence, and temporality.
