Biography
Woong Yong Kim explores relationships between traces, memory, and technology that mediate the regulation and resistance of the body within socio-cultural contexts. In doing so, he reveals moments of immense power and profound insignificance amidst ruins and decay, which in turn generate the organic connections that he focuses on. By weaving together the residues of records—voices, masks, gestures, scripts —he invokes them through performance, video installations, film, soundtracks and other mediums inquiring into the potential takes root in the present.
