Biography
Delusions, hallucinations, illusions, contractions, volvulus, tingling, itching, cramps, paralysis, spasm, blindness... in new forms, over and over again.
Hye-Lim Hong focuses on madness, obsession, anxiety, and depression. She strokes, sucks, stabs, and erupts attachment, agitation, pain, awe, regret, amusement, anger, distress, obsession, irritation, anxiety, arousal, pity, contempt, satisfaction, defeat, need, disappointment, disgust, empathy, infatuation, and jealousy. She makes a mess again, until they are all dry. And then she repeats the process until they turn to dust, until they're all gone, until they're dry and powdery and scratchy. They erupt and solidify and melt and solidify.... again and again, over and over again. Then suddenly she squeezes them tightly and shakes them until they are suffocated, she thrusts her hands in as far as she can reach to stir them up and spit them out. Everything they imagined, believed, and wrote down as cause, symptom, and solution. She tries to frustrate the plasticity of it all and makes people cry a little and laugh a lot.
